I’ve decided, while I am doing my projects in the latest update, I try to return to my first project, Triumph war, I am making a Triumph war engine in Godot, and I will try to mess with it without changing too much from the original formula - goal is to make TW2099 remastered with improved visuals, and online play.
2142 and Pocket War 2K were made in Clickfusion 2.5/MMF2 game engines, and I like them (while they have some really big cons) so I decided to create similar objects (for example the Active object), movement, and direction system and direction calculator in Godot 4, I will continue after this project to improve this and make some of the things I liked at those game engines in Godot, the reason I am doing that is that this makes developing games much easier.
When developing I think what is important is to keep the game almost the same, give the fans what they always wanted:
- PC triumph war with online
- Map maker
Now I did some prototypes of map makers in ClickFusion 2.5, and if you know a thing or two on this engine, its really not meant for complicated things, so in Godot it might be actually very easy to do this, having said all that, I think I will just use Tiled (Tiled | Flexible level editor (mapeditor.org)) as I really like that UI, and also its free!
So, I think I will just program something that will load maps that made in this program to Godot, worth mentioning I way few ways to achieve that:
- Use the program’s own export to Godot
- Investigate the current addon people did for Godot for loading maps
- Make my own map loader,
Any option here is plausible
